What is a Wildlife Hotel?

A Wildlife Hotel is a home to many creatures, helping to provide a sanctuary for pollinators, hedgehogs, toads etc, and help with our efforts to counterbalance the decline of wildlife due to habitat loss. The latest State of Nature report finds that 41% of UK species have declined since the 1970’s, including a 50% reduction in hedgehogs, 72% of beetles, 76% of butterflies, to name but a few.

The ‘Bug Snug’

We’ve created our own Wildlife Hotel in King George V Park. It’s a home to many creatures, helping to provide a sanctuary for pollinators, hedgehogs, toads etc, & help with our efforts to counterbalance the decline of wildlife due to habitat loss.

Materials included clay pipes, old bricks, bamboo canes, straw, old plant pots, twigs, large logs for the top, bark, stones and pebbles. We drilled holes into some of the wood for the bees.

Information on our Bug Snug project can be downloaded here.
