New Study Into Managing Small Meadows

June 2023

In 2021 a group of landowners in Freshford and Limpley Stoke formed Nature Chain Fields and Woods (NCF&W  www.naturechain.co.uk ) with the aim of trying to find a way to collectively manage and increase the biodiversity of a number of disparate pieces of land in the area.

Over the years, land in the two villages has been split up and separated leading to small ‘island’ fields that are difficult to manage and do not provide good wildlife corridors.  NCF&W has recently engaged Young Wilders (YW  www.youngwilders.org)  to manage the project, and YW has obtained funding from CAONB’s Farming in Protected Landscapes scheme for a feasibility / scoping study.

As part of this study, YW would like to contact ecological and environmental groups in B&NES and Wiltshire with the aim of discovering best practice in the locality.
